SHARE YOUR STORY, SHAPE OUR HISTORY
Celebrate Christopher Street as our 500th Site on Monday, June 23rd at 5PM
New York City’s iconic Christopher Street—a historic landmark of LGBTQ+ life and activism, including the 1969 Stonewall Uprising—is the NYC LGBT Historic Sites Project’s 500th documented site!
WE’RE CELEBRATING! Join us for a special memory-sharing meetup at the Stonewall National Monument to mark this incredible milestone. For a decade, the Project has uncovered hidden LGBTQ+ histories across the five boroughs, and now it’s time to add your voice to the story of Christopher Street.
We’re calling on all who have memories tied to this vibrant corridor to share their stories. Come for an informal meetup and recording session where we’ll capture your recollections of Christopher Street. Meet the Project’s co-directors, manager, and communications team; connect with your community; and reminisce together.

Join us for stroll of Greenwich Village as we explore the lesbian community’s connections to one of the world’s most famous neighborhoods. We’ll cover places that speak to the evolution of the lesbian bar, from the 1910s onward, and gathering spots run by women for women that popped up in the Village in the 1970s. Stops along the way include the former homes of notable lesbians who have helped shape American history and culture.
The tour, lead by a project co-founder and manager, will last approximately 1 1/2 hours. Meet under the Arch in Washington Square Park. Walking tour will take place rain or shine.
